It’s one of the most common questions we hear:
“I didn’t have any claims. Why did my insurance go up?”

It’s a completely reasonable question.
If you didn’t use your insurance, it can feel like your price should stay the same.
But insurance pricing involves more than your individual claims history.
Your Claims Are Only One Piece
Insurance companies consider many factors when determining rates, and those factors vary by carrier, type of insurance, location and individual risk.
Depending on the situation, pricing can be affected by things like:
- Increasing costs to repair homes and vehicles
- Labor and material costs
- Weather and catastrophe losses
- Medical costs
- Vehicle technology and replacement parts
- Reinsurance costs
- Claim trends in a geographic area
- Changes in individual rating characteristics
So even if you haven’t filed a claim, the overall cost of insuring homes and vehicles around you may have changed.
Does an Increase Mean It’s Time to Switch?
Not necessarily.
This is where having an independent agent can be valuable.
Could another carrier offer a better option? Maybe.
But we’d also want to consider:
What coverage would change?
Would your deductibles be different?
Are there endorsements you’d lose?
Would the new carrier be a good fit for your particular situation?
And sometimes, after reviewing everything, staying exactly where you are may still make the most sense.
Price Matters. So Does Protection.
We understand why people are paying closer attention to what they’re spending.
Everything feels expensive right now.
Finding opportunities to save absolutely matters.
But insurance is ultimately there for the day something goes wrong. Saving money today doesn’t feel like much of a savings if you discover later that you gave up coverage you thought you had.
That’s why our goal isn’t simply to find the lowest number.
It’s to help you understand your options, what you’re paying for, and what may change so you can make an informed decision.
